M Kamrath Designs is an alternative, independent book press specializing in handmade books with unique bookbinding techniques. My passion for reading, art sketching, and creativity drives me to craft each book with the utmost care and attention to detail. With a focus on quality and originality, I aim to bring a tactile experience in the form of a book to readers and artistic aficionados.
I recognize the popularity of ebook publishing and will also be offering this exciting option soon (if interested, please let me work with you).
I love to help authors and creatives explore options to put their art in a creative book format (physical or electronic) and display their work for others to enjoy.
My books are proudly made in Portland, Oregon where I live.

I remember browsing the Scholastic book catalog back in elementary school and circling almost every book to add to my wish list.
A college course in book making that started my adventure and I continued on in workshop and self learning book binding techniques.
I became bored with typical bookcloth available to me so I then began to make my own book cloth designs and I'm an equal opportunity hoarder of paper and my own dyed fabric.
While artist books have their special place in my creative heart, ebooks also have their place and I devour them like potato chips with sour cream dip to further enable my reading habit.

I stand firmly against hate in all its forms, using my art to foster inclusivity, understanding, and compassion. Through every book I design, I aim to inspire curiosity, spark creativity, and build a community where knowledge and compassion are shared freely.
