Hemp binding cord

Binding technique: I wanted this book to be a bit of a monster (pun intended) with the excessive silk exposed book bindings taking a major role in the look and feel of the book. Thick hemp cord was used to elaborate the spine. The mismatched silk noir bookcloth is intentional to represent how Frankenstein’s monster was a bit mismatched himself.

My personal thoughts on the book:

This is a great book to illustrate the differences between the author’s words and how Hollywood used a book to remake it into something that would be interesting on the big screen. Mary Shelley’s monster didn’t just grunt, he learned to speak French all on his own.

The screenplay writers and directors over the years have their own creative interpretations so I it shouldn’t matter if you read the book first before seeing the movie or vice versa – I think it’s important to experience both works of art.

  • All sales are final. I make every book with pride and would personally want to gift it to my friends and family. These items are like art to hand on the wall and books that are handmade are exactly that, handmade, and there will be subtle variances that make each item special.

Suggestions if you really don't like your book:

    • Gift it to another person in your family or circle of friends

    • Add it to a Little Library in your community

    • Donate it to a community center or elderly or adult care home community

Thank you for supporting an artist and the old but not forgotten art of bookbinding handicraft.
